What is the difference between Cat Camp and New Student Orientation?
Cat Camp is an optional spirit and traditions camp open to all students. New Student Orientation (NSO) is required for all incoming students. During NSO, students will learn about campus resources, meet with an academic advisor, and register for classes. Cat Camp provides a foundation for a successful college experience by discussing common transition topics and highlighting campus involvement and opportunities.

What do you do at Cat Camp?
Cat Camp hosts a variety of fun activities from small group time to friendly competitions. Students will be placed in a small group of 10-12 students and the groups will be led by two counselors. This is an opportunity for Bobcats to bond with their peers and have a relaxed time learning all they need to know about Texas State.

How much does Cat Camp cost?
The cost to attend Cat Camp is $175 per student. This includes lodging, meals, two t-shirts, a bandana, and all the fun activities and memories in between!

How long is Cat Camp?
Cat Camp is a three-day, two-night program held at the LBJ Student Center. Though Cat Camp may end after a few days, we encourage students and counselors to stay actively involved through the Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages.

Where is Cat Camp held?
Cat Camp is held on campus at the LBJ Student Center! Students will stay overnight in one of the residence halls and will get a chance to see multiple areas of the Texas State Campus!

Who are Cat Camp Staff?
Cat Camp staff are all successful student leaders, many of whom are Cat Camp alumni! They are students who are passionate about Texas State and hope to inspire incoming students. Cat Camp has counselors, CREW, and executive team members. The counselors run small groups and are there to ensure your students have the best experience possible. The CREW members are behind the scenes and make sure the camp runs smoothly. The Executive Team members have been working since Fall 2018 to make sure the camp is the best possible experience!

Can transfer students go to Cat Camp?
Of course! We welcome all incoming students both new and transfer!

What should we pack?
You can find the packing list under the registration tab.

Who will my roommate be?
You will have one other roommate of the same gender. Roommates will be assigned according to the order of arrival on the morning of check-in.
If you are a gender-nonconforming student, you can e-mail catcamp@txstate.edu for any comments or questions.

Do I have to be 18 to attend Cat Camp?
All admitted Texas State University incoming students are eligible for Cat Camp. If a camper is under 18, a parental waiver form must be filled out and will be sent prior to their camp session.

Do my parents attend Cat Camp?
Cat Camp is specifically for students, and there are no activities for parents.

Is there financial assistance available for interested Cat Campers?
Financial assistance is given on a case-by-case basis. Cat Camp offers a limited amount of $100 fee waivers for students in need of financial assistance.
Cat Camp is actively seeking donations in order to help provide students the opportunity to attend Cat Camp.

What is the Cat Camp cancellation policy?
Due to the nature of the program and the cost of supplies and reservation space for each camper, refunds are awarded for a limited time before camp. Checkout our refund page for more information about deadlines.
