  • Cat Camp (sessions A through C) is a one-day, one-night program held on campus at Texas State University. 

    Though Cat Camp may end after a day, we encourage students and counselors to stay actively involved through the Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages.

  • Cat Camp hosts a variety of fun activities from small group time to friendly competitions. Students will be placed in a small group of 10-12 students and the groups will be led by two Connection Leaders from the Bobcat Connection Team. Students will have an opportunity connect with peers in varying ways throughout the program.

  • Check-in for Cat Camp begins at 8 am at Blanco Hall. When you arrive on campus you will be greeted by Cat Camp staff who will be able to provide directions on how to navigate our check-in process!

     

  • Yes. For Cat Camp , we allow students to check in to the program until 10:30 am on the first day of the session. After 10:30 am, students will not be able to check in to the program. 

  • Check-out for Cat Camp begins at 4:15 pm on the last day of each session. Check-out will last one hour and end promptly at 5:15 pm.

    We ask that parents/guardians who are picking up their students arrive as early as 3:45 pm on the last day of camp to pick up their students. 

  • The cost to attend Cat Camp (Session A through C) is $175 per student.

    This includes lodging, meals, t-shirts, and all the fun activities and memories in between!

  • Cat Camp is an optional extended orientation program camp open to incoming and transfer students. New Student Orientation (NSO) is required for all incoming students. Cat Camp provides a foundation for a successful college experience by building on the content provided at NSO and further introducing students to the pride and traditions of Texas State University. Cat Camp helps students to feel more confident in their transition into the Texas State community. We recommend attending your NSO session before attending Cat Camp, if possible, but the two programs can be completed in whatever order is best for you.

  • No. All students are required to attend New Student Orientation (NSO). Cat Camp is an optional program that students are encouraged to attend. Many students will attend NSO and Cat Camp, and they generally have a better experience because of it!

  • Cat Camp is held in various spaces on the Texas State University campus. Students that attend this experience will experience campus locations such as Sewell Park, the Student Recreation Center, the LBJ Student Center, and at least one residence hall.

  • Cat Camp staff are all dedicated student leaders in the Bobcat Connection Team, many of whom are Cat Camp alumni! They are students who are passionate about Texas State and hope to inspire incoming students. 

  • Of course! We welcome all incoming students both new and transfer!

  • We have compiled a list of packing suggestions for you. A pre-camp email will be sent to you 2 weeks prior to the program you register for with more information as well. 

  • For Cat Camp, you will have one other roommate of the same gender. Roommates will be assigned at random prior to the start of your session. Roommate assignments are random to accommodate for the time needed to plan the program and to help students meet new people!

  • No. Please note that if a student attending Cat Camp is under 18, there are additional waivers required to attend the program.

  • Cat Camp is intended for incoming students at Texas State University. We do not provide housing or activities for parents/family members during the program.

  • Cat Camp provides limited funding assistance to students who express financial need. This need is determined by a need statement provided by the student and their FAFSA EFC number. 

    Students can apply for funding assistance using the funding assistance application.

     

  • Due to the nature of the program and the cost of supplies and reservation space for each camper, refunds are awarded for a limited time before camp. Checkout our refund page for more information about deadlines.
