Traditional Cat Camp Sessions

Cat Camp 2017 will have two traditional sessions this summer!

The first will be a three-day, two night camp located at T-Bar-M in New Braunfels, Texas on July 28-30.

Our second traditional session will be a four-day, three night camp at Camp Young Judaea in Wimberley, Texas on August 17-20.

How much does Cat Camp cost?

The traditional Cat Camp sessions are $155. This includes transportation to and from Texas State to the camp, food and snacks, housing, tshirts, and swag.

How long is Cat Camp?

This session of Cat Camp is four days and three nights!

When is this session?

What is the difference between Cat Camp and New Student Orientation?

Cat Camp is an optional spirit and traditions camp open to all incoming students. New Student Orientation is required for all incoming students and is when you will register for classes.

What is the difference between this session and the one on August 17-20?

This session will differ from the other traditional session because it is 3 days and 2 nights. This means that the schedule will be a little different, but we will still do all of the same activities regarding Texas State traditions and involvement.

The other main difference will be the location. The July 28-30 session will take place at T Bar M Camps in New Braunfels, Texas.         

 

What is the Cat Camp schedule?

Cat Campers will be engaged in all sorts of fun activities for the four-day, three-night camp. Aside from the normal camp activities such as ice breakers, hanging out, and developing relationship with their knowledgable counselors, Cat Campers will also get to participate in Riverfest pool time, a themed dance,  Bobcat-themed activities, and so much more!

We are currently finalizing the schedule for Summer 2017 and will post it soon!

What time do I need to arrive and leave?

Check-In for Cat Camp will occur on the morning of July 28. Check-out will be at around noon on July 30. We will post the specific times once our schedules are finalized. 

What should I pack?

Campers are allowed to bring one personal bag and one medium-sized luggage (just like airline regulations). Typically this includes linens, comfortable clothes, an outfit for the dance, a bathing suit, toiletries, and Bobcat spirit! All campers are emailed a packing list before camp. There is also an example packing list from previous summers is available here.

Campers will be riding the Texas State tram to and from the camp, so we ask that you pack minimally.

Where is Cat Camp held?

This session of Cat Camp will be held at T Bar M Camps & Resorts in New Braunfels, Texas!

Is there financial assistance available for campers?

Currently, Cat Camp relies on donations in order to provide financial assistance to students that request it. At this time, Cat Camp has minimal scholarships available for students.

If you would like to be considered for financial assistance, please fill out this form and we can send you additional information regarding the scholarship availability.

 

Where do I park of get dropped off during Cat Camp?

If you are driving yourself, you will be parking in the Matthews Street Garageon the top two floors (5th and 6th). There will be Cat Camp staff guiding you to this area! Before you can park in the garage, you must recieve a parking pass from a Cat Camp staff member. Cat Camp staff will be at the entrance to Matthews Street Parking Garage ensuring you recieve your pass.

If you are being dropped off, we ask that you head to the Matthews Street Parking Garage and drop off students on the third floor. This will help with traffic flow!

10:00 – 11:00 a.m.: Camper Check-In at the LBJ Student Center Ballroom at Texas State

11:00 – 12:00 p.m.: Lunch in the LBJ Student Center Ballroom

12:30 p.m.: Leave for Camp Young Judaea

1:15 – 2:00 p.m.: Arrive at Camp Young Judaea

2:00 – 5:00 p.m.: Welcome to Cat Camp/Activities

5:00 – 6 p.m.: Dinner

6:00 – 9:00 p.m.: Camp Activities

9:15 – 10:45 p.m.: Dance

10:45 – 12:00 a.m.: Cabin Time/Free Time

12:00 a.m.: Lights Out

Day 2 

8:15 a.m.: Rise and shine

9:00 – 10:00 a.m.: Breakfast

10:00 – 12:15 p.m.: Camp Activities

12:15 – 1:15 p.m.: Lunch

1:15 – 2:30 p.m.: Camp Activities

2:30 – 4:30 p.m.: Riverfest and Team Building activity

5:30 – 6:30 p.m.: Dinner

6:30 – 10:00 p.m.: Camp Activities

8:15 a.m.: Rise and shine

Day 4

I'm going to be living on campus in the Fall, will I miss move-in?

This session of Cat Camp does occur during Freshmen move-in weekend. The Department of Housing and Residential Life will be allowing Cat Campers attending this session to move in to their residence halls early on August 16.
